when it comes to OS man you really have to decide 32bit OS windows like 98 me win2k or XP all only support 4 gbs of ram actually that would be enough cuz OS is smaller when it comes to Vista don't get the cheesey 32bit try the 64bit only difference would be drivers and for ram support more that 4gb to 1tb which is nice...
All I've seen in dell and HP is 4 gb limits i also seen dell having support for ASUS mobo's..
Vista is to demanding on processing power and ram minimal requirements are dual core and 2gb with a 32bit os of vista your stuck with only 4gb to expand on pay the extra $20 or $30 especially if you mother board supports beyond 4gb...
well my option would be WinXP 64bit for my new PC ....
I was planning on getting a new PC this year yeah i said it so many times LOL but well got a sweet deal at tigerdirect.com on some good barebones I can't go wrong with them... as far as Intel and AMD I would probably got AMD when it comes to quad core a few FPS off you can really tell it isn't like AMD sucks their on a slump LOL later...

32 bit actually won't support 4gb, it pretty much stops at 3. I run 3- 1gb sticks in both my comps. I've been looking at bumping up to 64. That would just mean more resources for Windo$e to use up.

Are you running winme or win98se if you run win2k advanced server you can bump to 8gb but you'll probably get alot of pop ups saying not good idea for server to go internet but other than that its cool... if you need it pm me i'll ZIP it as small as possible...

how the performance difference between vista and winxp is your vista 64bit edition... but yeah it is but allot of complaints about vista crashing a friend of mine just got his dell lappy with vista and he was on tech line for a few hours to fix but he did enjoy the tech support being the guy did it all in remote desktop...
comparison between XP 2gb space depending on HDD size and Vista 10gb anyway I'm sure your running 2 500gb drives in SATA hehe... send some pics of your RIG man GG if you say Vista is sweet as hell well then I'll jump on it as well and make sure I get me the 64bit...

Since Vista is on my game rig, I don't really spend a lot of time on it. I've been looking into bumping my work rig up from XP to 64 bit Vista. I do a lot more "work" on it like video editing and graphics. Plus all the websites I work and play on.
